Utilization of waste dolomite dust in carbon fiber reinforced vinylester composites

نویسندگان

چکیده

The present study was designed to explore the applicability of dolomite dust (a waste from a quarry) as filler in polymer composites. Therefore, fixed carbon fiber reinforced vinyl ester composites with varying proportions (0, 5, 10 and 15 wt.%) are manufactured subsequently evaluated for physicomechanical sliding wear properties. Experimental results indicate that density, void content, impact energy, hardness, tensile modulus, flexural modulus increase content increase. On other hand, continuous decrease strength observed increased content. tests were performed using L16 orthogonal design, considering four parameters: dust, distance, applied load, velocity according Taguchi method. It found most noteworthy parameter rate, followed by load distance.

Carbon Fiber Reinforced Bismaleimide Composites

Bismaleimide (BMI) resins are developed very rapidly due to the demands of the defense and aerospace industries. They are cross-linked polymers which process like epoxy resins but have an upper use temperature of 230°C, compared to the epoxy upper use temperature of 175°C. Also due to the available intrinsic properties of BMI resins such as higher thermal stability and lower toxicity than those...

Effect of Fiber Surface Treatment on Wear Characteristics of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polyamide 6 Composites

Ozone modification method and air-oxidation were used for the surface treatment of polyacrylonitrile(PAN)-based carbon fiber. The surface characteristics of carbon fibers were characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The interfacial properties of carbon fiber reinforced polyamide 6 (CF/PA6) composites were investigated by means of the single fiber pull-out tests. As a result...

Processing of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Composites by Three Dimensional Photolithography

The reinforcement of photoresins with continuous carbon fibers is discussed in this paper. The processing was conducted in an automated desktop photolithography unit (ADPU) developed and built in-house. Continuous fibers were added in situ to the photoresin to obtain composite samples containing over 20 vol% of the fibers. The tensile strength of these composites improved by at least a factor o...

Influence of fiber orientation on the inherent acoustic nonlinearity in carbon fiber reinforced composites.

This paper presents the study of non-classical nonlinear response of fiber-reinforced composites. Nonlinear elastic wave methods such as nonlinear resonant ultrasound spectroscopy (NRUS) and nonlinear wave modulation spectroscopy have been used earlier to detect damages in several materials. It was observed that applying these techniques to composites materials becomes difficult due to the sign...
